Since our 2020 in-person meeting at the Met, almost a year ago, our world has been turned upside-down but as insects have adapted to our new realities so have we. The MuseumPests Working Group (MPWG) is rising to the challenge and maintaining our momentum with our first ever Virtual Meeting! All contributors to MuseumPests.net and/or participants at previous meetings are welcome to join.

Our Working Group Sessions are scheduled for March 9th and 10th, 9-5:00 U.S. Eastern. Using Zoom and Slack we will focus on further development of online content for the MuseumPests.net website. These two days are open to prior participants or contributors. Projects and goals for the synchronous work sessions will be posted in a second Blog post.

While this event is planned as a synchronous two-day meeting, we recognize that some of our participants are in different time-zones. We ask that participants plan on devoting their time over the course of these two days to MPWG activities whatever time zone you are in. We will be using Slack to share content and information for those working worldwide and may, at times, be participating asynchronously.

To request a spot for the MPWG meeting please RSVP via Google Forms by March 1st, 2021.

The update and short presentations that form an integral part of our normal meeting will be given on the afternoon of March 11th 2-4:00pm U.S. Eastern time. Presenting and viewing the Public Presentation Session is open to all. Presentations should be no longer than 10 minutes. The abstract submission deadline is March 1st. To submit an abstract for consideration please use the following Abstract Submission via Google Forms. Presenters will be notified by March 5 of their acceptance. This session will be hosted on Zoom and Live-Streamed on Facebook.

For those wishing only to view the Open Meeting please use the Open Meeting RSVP Form

Every year, the MuseumPests Working Group (MPWG) has included short presentations to update members on new developments, active research, and areas of topical concern. This year, in our first ever virtual meeting, we are inviting short presentations of no more than 10 minutes via Zoom webinar. These presentations are meant to be short, informative, and informal.

  • A short description of your presentation (no more than 250 words)
  • Author(s) names and contact information
  • Agreement that presented content will be recorded and a pdf of your content may be posted on museumpests.net website.

We will acknowledge and send out acceptances by March 5. For more information or questions, please contact MPWG Co-Chairs Matt Mickletz and Rachael Arenstein at chair@museumpests.net.
